Jane Elizabeth Giese
Jane Giese was born on January 19, 1939, in Slayton, Minnesota to Lester and Lois Hopkins Cohrs. She grew up in Westbrook, MN and graduated from Westbrook High School in 1957. On July 27, 1957, she and John Giese were married at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Currie, MN. Following their marriage, they made their home in Westbrook until 1972 when they moved to Pipestone, MN. In 1974 they family moved to Slayton, MN. John passed away on November 16, 2014. In December 2023 Jane moved to Edgebrook Care Center in Edgerton, MN. She passed away there on Friday, February 6, 2026, at the age of 87. She was a member of St. Ann’s Church in Slayton. Jane enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren, golfing, knitting, crocheting, sewing and oil painting.
Survivors include her four children and their spouses, Tom and Sharon Giese of Leota, MN, Patrice and John Knutson of Willmar, MN, Joe and Renee Giese of Slayton, MN, and John and Heather Rickgarn of Marshall, MN, 6 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one sister Julie Cryderman of Michigan. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, John, granddaughter, Sarah Carlson and one sister, Nancy Albertson.
Funeral Services
St. Ann’s Church in Slayton, MN on Monday, February 9, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Peter Schuster officiating. The organist is Judy Andrews. The song leader is Connie McNab. The music will be It Is Well With, My Soul, Hail Mary, Gentle Women, On Eagles Wings, Song of Farewell and Amazing Grace. The pallbearers are Luke Giese, Tyler Giese, Makenzie Sweetman, Jade Van Dyke, Oscar Carlson, and Ava Carlson. Interment is at St. Ann’s Cemetery in Slayton, MN.
Visitation will be on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at St. Ann’s Church in Slayton from 2-4 p.m. and one hour prior to the services on Monday. Totzke Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements. To send condolences visit totzkefuneralhome.com
