In Loving Memory of
Jean Julia Hentges
Jean Hentges was born March 24, 1951, in Adrian, Minnesota to Frank and Thecla “Tess” Nytes Halbur. She grew up on the family farm southwest of Iona, where she attended St. Columba Catholic Elementary School before graduating from Fulda High School in 1969. Following high school Jean moved to Minneapolis, MN and worked for an insurance agency. On November 27, 1970, she and Robert “Bob” Hentges were married at St. Columba Church in Iona, MN. Following their marriage, they made their home in Blackduck, MN. In 1976, they moved to Iona where they owned and operated Bob and Jean’s Corner Bar until 1979. When they returned to Blackduck, Jean worked at Blackduck Elementary School as a paraprofessional. In 1987, they returned to Iona. Jean worked at Murray County Central, continuing her work as a paraprofessional-touching many young lives. Jean retired in 2013. Bob and Jean were happily married for thirty-six years before Bob passed away on October 23, 2006. Jean passed away on Thursday, June 24, 2021, at the age of 70, after a short, but courageous and hard-fought battle with cancer. She passed away surrounded by many close, beloved family members.
