Jean McDonald Obituary

In Loving Memory Of

Jean McDonald

Jean (Kistner) McDonald, age 92, entered the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 28, 2022. Jean was born on February 5, 1930 in Menomonie, Wisconsin to Herbert and Abbie (Shafer) Kistner. The family resided in Irvington, a suburb of Menomonie, Wisconsin, where her father owned and operated the Irvington Garage. Jean graduated from Menomonie High School in 1947 at the age of 17. She worked at Foss Bakery during her high school years, and after graduation, worked as a clerk at Kraft State Bank in Menomonie. She met her spouse, Jack McDonald, at the 400 Club dance hall in Menomonie, whom she wed on September 9, 1950. For the first few years of their marriage, the couple lived in Menomonie, then moved to the Twin Cities, where they resided for most of their married life. Upon Jack’s retirement, they moved to Fulda, Minnesota, and after Jack’s death, Jean moved to Avoca to live with her daughter, Terry.

Jean came to know the Lord at an early age. She was a woman of few words, but the love she had for her family spoke volumes. An avid student of the Bible, she spent time daily, meditating and reading it. She enjoyed playing Solitaire on her smart phone, sending and receiving text messages, visiting with family, and watching Perry Mason solve crimes. Jean was a virtuous woman (Proverbs 31) and a devoted member of Word of Faith in Avoca, Minnesota.

Preceded in death by her husband, Jack; parents, Herbert and Abbie Kistner, and siblings, Eva Moe, Rita Noce, Mike Kistner, Don “Buck” Kistner and Irvin “Smoky” Kistner. Survived by her three children, Terry (John) Stenen, Mike McDonald, and Marie (Tom) Gehring; daughter-in-law, Lisa McDonald; sisters-in-law, Shirley Kistner and Barb Kistner; 9 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
