In Loving Memory of
Jeanette Avanell Rolfes
Jeanette Rolfes was born on August 18, 1926, on the family farm in Lincoln County, Minnesota near Lake Benton to Alvin and Alma Wiese Scheiber. She grew up near Lake Benton and attended Lake Benton High School. In 1943 the family moved to Slayton, MN. On January 29, 1945, she and William “Willie” Rolfes were married at St. Columba Church in Iona, MN. Following their marriage, they made their home in Iona, MN and raised their 11 children. Jeanette worked at Campbell Soup Company in Worthington for 5 years. She and Willie enjoyed dancing on Saturday nights at the area dance Halls. Willie passed away on September 21, 2003. Jeanette remained in their home until 2016 when she moved to the Slayton Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Slayton due to that closing Jeanette moved to Edgebrook Care Center in Edgerton, MN. She passed away there on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at the age of 97. She was a member of St. Columba Church where she was active in the Ladies Aid, the quilting group, and the Catholic Daughters of America. Jeanette enjoyed sewing, embroidery, the occasional trip to the casino, playing cards, gardening, canning the fruits of her labor, and the occasional Colorado Bulldog.
Survivors include her ten children and their spouses, Elaine and Richard Grogan, Allan and Janice Rolfes, Roger and Rita Rolfes all of Iona, MN, Randall Rolfes of Sioux Falls, SD, Brenda and Kevin McDaniels of River Falls, WI, Jeffrey Rolfes, Craig and Lorrie Rolfes both of Wilmont, MN , Jan and Lorrie Rolfes of Iona, MN, Tammara and Curtis Vaske of Wilmont, MN, and Thomas and Julie Rolfes of Dalbo, MN, 40 grandchildren, 66 great-grandchildren, 21 great-great-grandchildren, four siblings and their spouses, Arlyn and Barb Scheiber of Dodge Center, MN, Garnette Ulrich of Belle Fourche, SD, Annette and James Honerman of Adrian, MN, and Lynette King of Phoenix, AZ, and two sisters-in-law, Joann Scheiber of Sioux Falls, SD, and Leona Edwards of Seattle, WA. She is precede in death by her parents, husband, son, Gordon Rolfes, infant granddaughter, Candace Rolfes, grandson, Darin Grogan, daughter-in-law, Mary Rolfes, two brothers, Duane and Norma Scheiber and Merlyn Scheiber, four sisters, Darlette and Eugene Rolfes, Charlette and Harry Schaa, Harriette Scheiber and Paulette Scheiber, two brothers-in-law, Fred Ulrich and Tom King and her parents-in-law, William and Anna Rolfes, seven brothers and sisters-in-law, Cornelius and Jenny Rolfes, Ursula and Ted Kellen, Francis and Madonna Rolfes, Herbert and Rella Rolfes, Marcy and Duane Preston and Leonilla Rolfes.
Funeral services
St. Columba Church in Iona, MN on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Tojy Jose OFM officiating. The organist Linda Huseman. The song leader is Wesley Biren. The pallbearers are Rick Grogan, Tyler Vaske, Doug Dotseth, Michael Rolfes, Chad Rolfes, Allen Rolfes, Jade Rolfes Roger Rolfes and Willie Rolfes. Interment is at St. Columba Cemetery in Iona, MN.
