James Voit

James Leo Voit, the son of Frank and Margaret (Paplow) Voit, was born on July 17, 1942 in Southbrook Twsp., Cottonwood Cty., MN. He attended school in Heron Lake, MN graduating from the Heron Lake High School in 1961. He moved to Dundee in the early 1970’s until moving to Heron Lake. Jim worked at the Worthington Freezer Warehouse for many years. Jim passed away on Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at the Country View Manor in Sibley, IA at the age of 80. Jim was forever grateful for his special care giver, Stacy. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Heron Lake. Jim enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins and Vikings, playing softball in his younger years, hunting, fishing and other outdoor activities. He especially enjoyed being with family and friends.

Survivors include his sister, Marlene (Roger Fitz Henry) Koehn; brother-in-law, Howard Kass; nieces and nephews, Brian (Sonda) Kass, Jerry Kass, Deb (Denis Janke) Arends, David (Dana) Kass, Cheryl (Eric) Hartman, Teresa (Scott) Hamman and Steven (Jessica Koster) Kass and many great and great-great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Francis Voit, sister, Janice Kass and niece, Diane Kass.

Funeral Services

Sacred Heart Catholic Church Heron Lake, MN at 10:30 AM on Monday, June 12, 2023 with Fr. Pratap officiating. Special music provided by Jayne Miranowski and the Sacred Heart Choir. The pallbearers are Brian Kass, Jerry Kass, Denis Janke, Eric Hartman, Scott Hamman, Dave Kass and Steve Kass. Interment at Sacred Heart Cemetery Heron Lake, MN.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. The Totzke Funeral Home in Fulda is assisting the family with arrangements.
