JoEllyn Marcelline Ruppert

JoEllyn Ruppert was born on February 14, 1936, in Slayton, Minnesota to Aloysius and Elsie Bremer Illg.  She and her twin sister, JoAnn Wisdorf grew up on the family farm near Avoca, MN.  JoEllyn graduated from Slayton High School in 1954.  On October 5, 1955, she and Melvin Ruppert were married at St. Rose of Lima Church in Avoca.  Following their marriage they farmed near Currie, MN and raised their five children.  In 1996 they moved to Currie.  Mel passed away on March 28, 2016.  In 2021 JoEllyn moved to Mapleview Estates in Fulda, MN and in January 2022 she moved to Our Hospice Home in Slayton where she passed away on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at the age of 86.  She was a member of IHM Church in Currie.  She also was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America.  JoEllyn served as a 4-H Leader when her children were participating in 4-H.  JoEllyn enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, reading, gardening, sewing, doing puzzles and couponing.

Survivors include her five children and their spouses, Rhonda and Mark Meulebroeck, of Balaton, MN, Mel Jr. and Lois Ruppert of Mankato, MN, Kerry and Kimberly Ruppert of Currie, MN, Tim and Jolleen Ruppert of Garretson, SD, and Brett and Carla Ruppert of Worthington, MN, six grandchildren and their spouses, Amy and Luat Ngo, Jacob and Abby Ruppert, Andrew and Briana Ruppert, Haylee Ruppert, Zachery Ruppert, and Katelyn Ruppert, eight great-grandchildren, one sister, Elaine Gaul of Fulda, MN, one brother-in-law, Robert Pippett of Prescott, AZ and several nieces and nephews and their families.  She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Melvin, two sisters, JoAnn and Leo Wisdorf, and Janice Pippett, one brother, Al Illg Jr. and one brother-in-law, Delven Gaul.

Funeral Services

IHM Church in Currie, MN on Monday, February 21, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. with Msgr. R. Paul Heiting officiating.  The organist is Vicky Streifel.  The song leader is LoAnn Hansen.  The pallbearers are her grandchildren.  Interment is at Calvary Cemetery in Currie, MN.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church on Monday.
