June Susan Schreier
June Schreier was born on August 20, 1928, on the family farm south of Currie, Minnesota. She grew up on the farm and graduated from IHM High School in 1945. On June 6, 1949, she and Duane Schreier were married at IHM Church in Currie. Following their marriage, they farmed northeast of Currie for 7 years. They then moved to the Illg family farm south of Currie and raised their five children. Duane passed away on April 26, 2014. June remained on the farm until 2016 when she moved to Sunrise Terrace in Slayton, MN. June passed away with her family by her side at the Murray County Medical Center in Slayton on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at the age of 96. She was a member of IHM Church in Currie where she taught Faith Formation, served as song leader, and was in the CCW. She served as a 4-H adult leader and mentor for many youth in the Currie area during her younger years. June loved a good Pinochle game and was active in the Slayton and Fulda Pinochle Club. June enjoyed family time, reading, gardening, computer games, crosswords puzzles, golfing, jigsaw puzzles, bowling, and coffee with her many friends.
Survivors include her five children and their spouses, Brad (Marge) Schreier of Naples, FL, Rick (Becky) Schreier of Eden Prairie, MN, Chris (Cindy) Schreier of Eagan, MN, Mark (Christine) Schreier of Bloomington, MN, and Anmarie (Paul) Brewers of Bloomington, MN, Nine grandchildren Ryan (Sara) Schreier, Kyle (Katie) Schreier, Nathan Schreier, Eric Schreier, Adam (Megan) Schreier, Angie (Dustin) Kroeger, Sydnee Schreier, Seth Brewers, and Carmen Brewers, 10 great-grandchildren, Annabell and Lillian Schreier, Connor, James and Maria Schreier, Claire, Sloane and Conrad Schreier and Brody and Cameron Kroeger, one brother-in-law, David Schreier (Alice) of Currie, MN, four sisters-in-law, Mary Foster of Maple Grove, MN, Beverly Schreier of Slayton, MN, Lita Schreier of Currie, MN, and Mary Schreier of Emily, MN. She is preceded in death by her parents, infant sister, Joy Illg, sister, Corine (Johnny) Reiter and in-laws, John (Barbara) Schreier, Vincent Schreier, Gerry Schreier, Bernadine (Ike) Kremer, Evelyn (Daniel) Ackman, Francis Schreier and Darrell Foster.
Funeral Services
IHM Church in Currie, MN on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Antony Arokiyam officiating. The organist is Patty LeCaire. The song leader is LoAnn Hansen with special music by Paul Brewers. The pallbearers are Ryan Schreier, Adam Schreier, Kyle Schreier, Nathan Schreier, Eric Schreier, Seth Brewers, Phil Schreier, Bob Schreier, Chad Schreier, Alan Reiter, Curt Reiter, and Greg Laleman. Interment is at Calvary Cemetery in Currie, MN.
