Kathryn Theresa Crowley
Kathryn Crowley, the daughter of Joseph and Johanna (Heckle) Bulfer, was born on October 15, 1914 in Rolling Green Twp., Martin Co., MN. She was the 2nd of 11 children. She attended St. Paul’s Catholic School and three years at the Fairmont High School and then attended the University of Minnesota Ag School in 1934 and graduated in 1936. There she met her future husband Raymond Crowley. They were married on April 29, 1937 in Fairmont. After their marriage they lived on a farm in Iona Twp., Murray Co, MN and gave birth to 8 children; 5 boys and 3 girls. Kathryn started in 4-H at the age of 10. She and her sister, Dorothy went to the Chicago World’s Fair in 1933, displaying Bread Baking. She started taking piano lessons at age 7. Piano was a big part of her life and she played up until the last year of her life. Kathryn had many interests, including rug making, gardening and being outdoors. Her 40 years in Extension Club included three terms as president. She won many prizes for her cooking, especially pie making which she passed on to her daughters and granddaughters. Kathryn passed away at the Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Fulda on Sunday, July 5, 2020 at the age of 105. Her wisdom, kindness and unending love toward her 8 children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren will be missed.
Survivors include seven children, Francis (Rosa) Crowley of St. Paul, MN, Joanne (Tony) Mussi of Phoenix, AZ, Ellen (Ken) Anderson of Foley, MN, Bob (Lee) Crowley of Iona, MN, Bill (Terry) Crowley of Iona, MN, Colette (John) Struthers of Hazelton, ID and Ron (Sharon) Crowley of Spirit Lake, IA; daughter-in-law, Pat Crowley of Pine River, MN; 28 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; sister, Ruth Lenort of Fairmont, MN and 2 sisters-in-law, Eunice Bulfer and Fern Bulfer. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Wayne, great-grandson, Bryan Schleicher and 9 brothers and sisters.
Funeral Services
St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church Fulda, MN at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 10, 2020 with Msgr. R. Paul Heiting celebrating. The organist is Mary Ann Boom. The soloist is Sheila Crowley. The pallbearers are David Crowley, Tony Mussi, Kelsey Anderson, Jason Crowley, Lindy Larson, Shannon Lewis and Jeff Crowley. The honorary pallbearers are her remaining grandchildren. Interment at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Cemetery Fulda, MN. In lieu of flowers memorial are preferred to St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a face mask is required inside the church. The Totzke Funeral Home in Fulda is assisting the family with arrangements.
