Kenneth “Kenny” Lewis Hill
Kenny Hill was born on September 4, 1945, in Slayton, Minnesota to Lewis and Edna Anderson Hill. At the young age of two his father passed away. Kenny his mother, stepfather and younger siblings remained on the farm southeast of Lake Wilson until 1959 when they moved to Lake Wilson. Kenny graduated from Lake Wilson High School in 1963. Following high school Kenny attended Alexandria Vo-Tech for carpentry graduating in 1965. On November 14, 1967, Kenny enlisted in the United States Army and served in Vietnam as a field radio mechanic with the 1st Infantry Division. Following his discharge on November 13, 1969, he returned to Lake Wilson and served in the Minnesota Army National Guard and the South Dakota Air National Guard. He made his home in Lake Wilson for the next 53 years. Kenny worked for Marv Jefson Construction and later went on his own doing carpentry work throughout the area. Kenny retired in 2011 but remained busy working around Lake Wilson doing all sorts of carpentry projects for many of his good friends. On May 9, 2022, Kenny moved to the Minnesota Veterans Home in Luverne. He passed away there on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at the age of 79. He was a member of the Lake Wilson American Legion Post. Kenny enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and wood working. Countless families of Good Shephard Lutheran have received one of his baptismal boxes.
Survivors include his three siblings, Donnie and Sheila Packard of Sioux Falls, SD, Colleen and Dale Fowler and Connie and Mark McClanahan both of Sharpsburg, GA, one sister-in-law, Cherrie Packard of Mt. Grove, MO, and several nieces, nephews, and their families. He is preceded in death by his father, Lewis Hill, mother and father, Edna and Corbin Packard, infant brother, infant sister, and one brother, Jim Packard.
Funeral Services
Good Shephard Lutheran Church in Lake Wilson, MN on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. with Mark Carlson officiating. The organist is Darlene Bose. The pallbearers are Justin Packard, John Youmans, Corbin Youmans, Jolene Johnson, Rudy Gunnick, and Kent Carlson. Interment is at Hillside Cemetery in Lake Wilson, MN. Military honor accorded by the Lake Wilson American Legion Post.
