Kevin Lloyd Strampe
Kevin Strampe was born on December 9, 1957, in Slayton, Minnesota to Vernon and Beatrice Koopman Strampe. He grew up on the family farm southeast of Chandler, MN and graduated from Chandler-Lake Wilson High School in 1976. While in high school Kevin was active in 4-H, FFA and played basketball. Following graduation he attended Canby Vo-Tech for auto mechanics. He then went to work for Connell Chevrolet in Luverne and later for Pipestone Auto in Pipestone, MN. He then took a job building grain elevators throughout the upper Midwest until the early 1980’s when he moved to Woodward, OK to begin working in the oil fields. He started out as a roughneck and worked his way up. He started his own business with Stramp’s Oilfield Services hauling pipe and supplies for the oil companies and working for area banks doing repo work. Kevin passed away at his home in Woodward, OK on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, at the age of 63. Kevin enjoyed attending motorcycle rallies, riding his Harley, collecting cars, trucks, and boats to fix-up and sell. Kevin was always up for a good time with family and friends and was known to be the life of the party.
Survivors include four step-children and their spouses, Seth Johnson of Woodward, OK, Celestia and Aaron Ramey of Mooreland, OK, Cierra and Jorge Mota of Woodward, OK, and Sidney Evers of Woodward, OK, his mother, Beatrice Strampe of Slayton, MN, four siblings and their spouses, Curt and Linda Strampe of Chandler, MN, Deanna and Ron Ahlers of Pipestone, MN, Julie and Matt Newkirk of Chesterfield, VA, and Lynette and Pat Demuth of Worthington, MN; ten nieces and nephews and their families, Ryan and Angie Strampe, Kyle Strampe and Carrie Domeyer, Lacey and Scott VandenBerg, Aaron and Charley Ahlers, Andy Ahlers and Heather Guderian, Courtney Ahlers and Brandon Bashus, Jeff Newkirk, Sarah Newkirk, Nicholas Demuth and Natalie Demuth. He is preceded in death by his father, Vernon Strampe and one niece, Krista Ahlers Rice.
Funeral Services
Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Lake Wilson, MN on Friday, December 17, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Harlan Kaden officiating. The organist is Darlene Bose with special music by Tom Mesner. The pallbearers will be his family. Interment is at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Chandler, MN.
Visitation will be on Thursday, December 16, 2021, at the Totzke Funeral Home in Slayton from 4-6 p.m. and also one hour prior to the services at the church on Friday.
