Larry George Rosenberg

Larry Rosenberg was born on April 30, 1944 in Luverne, Minnesota to Alfred and Kathryn Tjepkes Rosenberg.   He grew up on a farm near Ellsworth, MN and graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1962.  On November 15, 1963 he and Betty Vogt were married at the Ellsworth Presbyterian Church in Ellsworth.  Following their marriage, they farmed near Ellsworth until 1968.  They then moved to Owatonna, MN and Larry worked with the Minnesota State Patrol.  In 1971 they moved to Slayton, MN.  Larry retired in 1999 from the Minnesota State Patrol as Station Sergeant.  Larry passed away surround by his family and friends on Friday, February 12, 2021 at his home in Slayton at the age of 76.  He was a member of the Iona Presbyterian Church and served as an elder.   Larry was a member of AA for over 13 years.  Throughout his time with AA he formed many friendships and provided support and encouragement to many fellow AA members.  He also was a member of the Slayton Fire Department for 22 years.  Larry enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren, watching the Minnesota Twins, riding and caring for his John Deere tractor, trips to area casinos and time with family pets.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Rosenberg of Slayton, MN, three children and their spouses, Lynette and Scott Ahlschlager of Iona, MN, Brian Rosenberg and Jonelle of Slayton, MN,  and Kim and Jason Holm of Slayton, MN, six grandchildren, Samantha Ahlschlager, Stephanie and James Buell, Sydney Ahlschlager and Jimmy and Stevie Ahlschlager, and Andrew Holm and Charley Holm, two step-grandchildren Mitchell and Abby, two great-grandchildren, Marin Engbarth, and Silas Buell, five siblings and their spouses, Bruce and Judy Rosenberg of Ellsworth, MN, Gene and Karen Rosenberg of Luverne, MN, Joan and Larry Wendland of Ellsworth, MN, Mary Rust of Luverne, MN, and Steve and Brenda Rosenberg of Sibley, IA and several brothers and sisters-in-law and their families.  He is preceded in death by his parents, and one granddaughter, Nicole Ahlschlager and his beloved dog, Abby.

A private family funeral service will be held at the Iona Presbyterian Church with Rev. Deb Klassen officiating.  The organist is Cheri Paulson.  The pallbearers are Marshal Isder, Jerry McCord, Andrew Holm, Nathan Rosenberg, Matt Wendland and Jimmy Carlson.  The honorary pallbearers are his grandchildren, Samantha, Stephanie, Sydney, Stevie, Andrew and Charley.  Interment will be at the Grand Prairie Cemetery in Ellsworth, MN.

Visitation will be at Christ Lutheran Church in Slayton on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 from 4-7 p.m.  with a service at 6:30 p.m.  Per MN Executive Order, masks will be required, and social distancing and occupancy limits are to be followed.
