In Loving Memory of
LeRoy “Lee” H. Julius
Lee Julius was born October 2, 1941on the family farm near Ellsworth, Minnesota to Henry and Lillian Renken Julius. Lee attended Adrian School and later worked as a farm hand. On November 12, 1959, he and Karen Thompson were married at the Lutheran Parsonage in Slayton, MN. Following their marriage, they made their home in Slayton and Lee worked for Louis Beal Distributing (Grain Belt) starting out too young to deliver beer, so he did the soft drinks route eventually switching to the Grain Belt Beer truck route and later becoming route manager. After 17 ½ years Lee left and went to work for Oak Grove Dairy for two years before taking a job with Hadley Farmers Elevator for 25 years. He retired in 2004 due to health reasons. On June 4, 2025, Lee moved to Our House Hospice Home in Slayton. He passed away there on Sunday, June 8, 2025, at the age of 83. He was a member of Faith Community Lutheran Church in Slayton, and a former member of Christ Lutheran Church in Slayton. Lee enjoyed reading, penny slots, and tinkering in his garage and yard.
Survivors include his wife, Karen Julius of Slayton, MN, five children and their spouses, Karla and Jeff Benda of Jasper, MN, LeeAnn Julius and Greg Grimes of Florala, AL, Kerry Peterson and Don Engesser, Lisa Johnson and Jim Dierks and Kristi and Daryl Kruse all of Slayton, MN, nine grandchildren, Heather and Troy Heidebrink, Joshua Peterson and Jamie Slama, Megan and Darrell Stout, Jennifer and Jordan Siebenahler, Brandon Duncan and Sabrina Storey, Jeremy Peterson, Shawna and Dan Sprengeler, Danielle and David Thorpe, and Erica Gervais, 11 great grandchildren, Braxton, Merrick, and Rhaelee Heidebrink, Nolan Stark, and Mays Stout, Harper, Braxton, Charlotte, and Mack Siebenahler, Harleigh and Bowen Sprengeler, five brothers and their spouses, Verlyn and Miles, Julius of Sioux Falls, SD, Doug and Sharon Julius of Post Falls, ID, Jerry Julius of Chaska, MN, Randy and Joyce Julius of Sioux Falls, SD, and Steven Julius of Aurora, CO, one brother-in-law, Curtis Walker of Sioux Falls, SD, one sister-in-law, Leann Julius of Ellaville, GA, and several niece and nephews and their families. He is preceded in death by his parents, two sons-in-law, Greg Stark and Michael Duncan, granddaughter, Lindsay Duncan, four siblings, Beverly Julius, David Julius, Laverle Julius, and Lori Walker, parents-in-law, Jonie and Evelyn Thompson and one brother-in-law, Melvin Thompson.
Memorial Services
Faith Community Lutheran Church in Slayton, MN on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. with Heidi Winter officiating. The honorable pallbearers are his grandchildren. Interment is at Slayton Memorial Gardens in Slayton, MN.
