Leona Gieselman
Leona Mildred Gieselman, the daughter of Frank and Clara (Kellen) Voss, was born on November 27, 1934 in Wilmont, MN. She grew up on the family farm and attended Dist. #96 School through the 8th grade and then attended Wilmont Sacred Heart Catholic School before graduating from Slayton High School. Leona was united in marriage to Cyril Gieselman on January 27, 1955 at St. Rose Lima Catholic Church in Avoca. After their marriage they lived in Slayton before moving to Fulda. She worked at Cambells Soup in Worthington and later for the Maple Lawn Nursing Home in the Kitchen and then as Laundry Supervisor, retiring in 2014 and part time at the Fulda Liquor Store. Leona remained at home after Cyril died in February of 1997. Leona passed away on Monday, January 6, 2025 at the Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 90. She was a member of St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church and served on F.C.C.W., Fulda VFW Aux. and American Legion Aux. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, flowers, bowling, bingo, ceramics, word searches reading the Fulda paper, reminiscing about growing up and helping at church gatherings
Survivors include her 8 children, LeAnn (Michael) Warner of Okabena, MN, Kathy Walters of Larchwood, IA, Carol (Loren) Harder of Delft, MN, Allan (Mary) Gieselman of Freemont, MI, Lorretta Ysker of Windom, MN, Susan (Eli) Waldner of Mitchell, SD, Gail Gieselman of Fulda, MN and Dennis (Shelly) Gieselman of Worthington, MN; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; I great-great-grandchild; 4 sisters and 8 brothers, Gene Voss, Clarice Gieselman, Pat Hattendorf, Sharon Johnson, Leo (Judy) Voss, Steven (Carol) Voss, Stan Voss, Daniel (Caren) Voss, Mark (Mary) Voss, Anna (Dave) Malay, Robert (Sharyn) Voss and Edward (Roxanne) Voss. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandson, Jason Gieselman, great-grandson, Jackson Harder, 5 brothers, Adam, Tom, Dick, Patrick and Paul Voss and 3 sisters, Lois Elskamp, Carol and Victoria Voss.
Funeral Services
St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church Fulda, MN at 10:30 AM on Saturday, January 11, 2025 with Fr. Antony Arokiyam celebrating. The organist is Dana Hogan. The song leader is Ken Salentiny. Pallbearers are her grandchildren. Interment at St. Gabriel’s Cemetery Fulda, MN.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. The Totzke Funeral Home in Fulda is assisting the family with arrangements.
