Leslie Dean Martin
Les Martin was born on August 7, 1949, in Slayton, Minnesota to Wilfred and Beryle Stevens Martin. He grew up on the family farm and graduated from Slayton High School in 1967. Les spent his entire life living, farming, and raising livestock on the family farm. Due to failing health Les moved to Our House Hospice on June 16, 2023. He passed away there on Sunday, June 18, 2023, at the age of 73. He was a member of the Slayton United Methodist Church in Slayton. He was a member of the Pork Producers and served on the board. He also was a member of FFA, Murray County Jaycees Speedway and a Slayton bowling League. Les enjoyed family Sunday Suppers, feeding squirrels, bowling, collecting toy tractors, auctions, driving around the countryside checking out the crops and animals of all kinds.
Survivors include his two sisters, Joyce Bloemenndaal and her husband, Pete of Slayton, and Carol Martin of Marshall, MN, six nieces and nephews and their families, Larry and Sandy Haberman, Susan and Scott Hanegan, Steve and Judy Bloemendaal, Donna and Larry Bruns, Sharon Ingemunson and Randy and Lisa Martin. He is preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Marilyn and her husband, Connie Haberman, and one niece, Mary Kay Haberman.
Memorial Services
United Methodist Church in Slayton, MN on Monday, June 26, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Ethanie Schmidt officiating. The organist is Janet Voges with special music by Miron Carney. The honorary pallbearers are Steve Halbur, Les Overman and Paul Overman. Interment is at Slayton Memorial Gardens in Slayton, MN.
