Lois Larson Obituary

In Loving Memory Of

Lois M. Larson

Lois M. Larson, age 84, was a strong loving feisty one who was able to survive several back and ankle surgeries, and endured the pain of RA crippling her since she was 50 – lost her battle to Alzheimer’s on October 29, 2021.

Lois was born September 2, 1938 in Currie, MN to of Walter and Priscilla (Beech) DesLauriers, and was one of five siblings.  Lois grew up in Currie and attended Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic School. Lois met her husband James at the Tepeeotah Dance Hall where they loved to dance and were joined in marriage on October 12, 1957.  Following their marriage they made their home in Fort Bliss Texas, where Jim was stationed in the army, and then moved to Windom, MN and Worthington, MN.  In 1972, they bought nine acres of farm land in Fulda, MN, where they built their home and buildings and lived there for 45 years.  Due to failing health in September of 2017, Lois moved to Euceman Meadows, Worthington, MN and then in November 2017 she moved to Grand Living where she resided with an apartment with James, until 2021 when she moved was moved to a separate memory unit, until her recent surgery.

Lois was a hard-working, devout Catholic and loved her children and grandchildren.  She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, and playing cards and board games She also loved dancing and playing golf until at the young age of 50, made RA it physical impossible. She loved to hug – even strangers. Together with her husband she helped establish Larson’s Commercial Fishing which they started from the ground up in 1968.  Lois was not only the bookkeeper but provided the crews with healthy warm meals.

Survivors include her husband James of Grand Living, Sioux Falls, SD.  She is also survived by her children, Brenda (Larson) Kuhle of Lenexa, KS and her son Walter (Marila Da Silva) Larson of Naperville, IL, and the mother of her grandson, Cindy (Don) Mullennex of Norfield, MN, whom she loved as her own daughter; two grandchildren, Alayna Watts of Leawood, KS and Azy Andreas of Boston, MA.  She is also survived by her sisters; Shirley Zimmerman of Bloomington, MN and Mary (Bob) Verstraete of Hugo, MN and brother Clifford (Lynette) DesLauriers of Currie, MN and 7 nieces and 13 nephews.

In addition to her parents, Lois was preceded in death by her grandson Caleb James Larson in 2016; siblings, Raymond DesLauriers and Rita Chepa and ex-son-in-law, David Neyens.
