Lyla Mae Getting

Lyla Getting, the daughter of Henry and Christina (Behr) Bultmann, was born on June 19, 1929 in rural Fulda. She grew up on a farm in Bloom Twp., Nobles Co., MN and attended country school and graduated from the Fulda High School in 1947. She then worked for the Citizens State Bank until 1950. Lyla was united in marriage to Leland Getting on September 3, 1950 at the Immanuel American Lutheran Church in rural Fulda. After their marriage they lived and farmed 3 different Coburn farms east of Fulda. In 1983 they moved to an acreage east of Lime Creek, MN and in 1994 following retirement they moved into Fulda. In September of 2014, they moved to the Maple Lawn Senior Living Campus in Fulda. Lyla passed away on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at Maple Lawn Senior Care at the age of 92. Lyla was a lifetime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where she served on many committees and activities, including Bible studies, funeral committee, and Sunday School. She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and participated in activities at the Fulda Senior Center. Lyla also enjoyed neighborhood project clubs, gardening, cooking and sewing. She especially enjoyed family holidays, picnics, and a good game of cards. Lyla shared her husband’s passion for the farm, and was a very dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Survivors include 4 of her 5 children, Lorinda (Lloyd) Witt of Owatonna, MN, Vicki (Mike) Stewart of Park Rapids, MN, Elden (Lynn) Getting of Fulda, MN and Jodie (Cindy) Getting of Fulda, MN; daughter-in-law, Jackie Getting of Owatonna, MN; 11 grandchildren, Ryan (Tracie) Witt, Kari (Ross) Reiffenberger, Kelli (Matt) McGovern, Kendra (Andrew) Geeslin, Molli (Jason) Anderson, Jalen (Cassie) Getting, Nathan (Alli) Getting, Ashley Getting, Chantel (Derek) Sina, Alex Getting and John Getting; 15 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Norma (Lee) Kolterman of Niobrara, NE and Janice Schei of Luverne, MN and sister-in-law, Linda Bultmann. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Leslie Getting, 4 brothers, Elden, Edwin (Lucille), Harold (Valonne) and Marlyn Bultmann; sister, Ruth (Ivan) Schwarz; and brother-in-law, Dennis Schei. 

Funeral Services

Immanuel Lutheran Church rural Fulda, MN at 1:00 PM on Friday, June 24, 2022 with Rev. Lance Isaacson officiating.  The organist is Roxanne Kremer. Interment at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery rural Fulda, MN.

A gathering and lunch will follow the burial at the Fulda Senior Citizens Center in Fulda on Friday, June 24, 2022 at 2:30 PM. The Totzke Funeral Home in Fulda is assisting the family with arrangements.
