Marcella “Sally” Vos
Sally Vos was born on September 13, 1927 on the family farm near Adrian, Minnesota to Peter and Frances Gerardy Metz. The family moved to a farm near Hadley, MN in 1935. Sally graduated from Slayton High School in 1945. On August 31, 1948 she and William “Buck” Molitor were married. Following their marriage, they farmed north of Hadley. To this union three children were born, Joan, Mike, and Bob. Buck passed away as the result of an automobile accident. Sally and Frank Vos were married in Slayton, MN on January 9, 1960. Following their marriage, they moved to the Vos family farm north of Slayton. To this union another son, Dale was born. In 1987 they retired and moved to Slayton. Frank passed away on October 20, 2008. Sally remained in her home until June 2015 when she moved to the Slayton Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. Due to the closure of the Slayton facility, Sally moved to the Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Fulda. In January 2021 after a short hospital stay Sally moved to the Westbrook Good Samaritan Society in Westbrook, MN. She passed away there on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at the age of 93. She was a member of St. Ann’s Church in Slayton. Sally served as Mason Township Clerk, as a Mason Township 4-H leader and was part of the Murray County Extension. She was a volunteer at the Murray County Medical Center and was leader of the Horticulture building for the Murray County Fair. Sally was a member of the Neighborhood Coffee Club, and Slayton Bowling League. Sally enjoyed gardening, mowing lawn, crocheting, quilting, playing cards and dominoes, traveling, listening to music and playing piano and guitar as well as several other instruments.
Survivors include her three sons, Mike Molitor of Hadley, MN, Bob Molitor of Rock Rapids, IA, and Dale Vos and his wife, Christyn of Slayton, MN, grandchildren, Tim, Laura, Maddie and Greg Molitor and Jake, Kyle, Ryan and Jackie Vos, five siblings, Irene Stevens of Cold Springs, MN, Ray Metz and his wife, Gay of Slayton, MN, Joe Metz of Truman, MN, Jane Wagner of Slayton, MN, Dorothy Randall and her husband, Richard of Sauk Rapids, MN, one sister-in-law, Joyce Metz of Crown Point, IN, one bother-in-law, Ronald Conway of Slayton, MN and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and their families. She is preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Buck Molitor, and Frank Vos, infant daughter, Joan Molitor, five brothers and their spouses, Ervin and Monta Metz, Matt and Donna Metz, Walter and Tootie Metz, Albert Metz, and Willy and LaVonne Metz, sister, Mary Anne Conway, two brothers-in-law, Robert Stevens and Dave Wagner, and sister-in-law, Pat Metz.
Funeral Services
St. Ann’s Church on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Thien Nguyen officiating. The organist is Judy Andrews. The pallbearers are Kyle Vos, Ryan Vos, Jackie Vos, Doug Halbur, Dave Samuelson and Cyndi O’Connell. Interment is at Slayton Memorial Gardens in Slayton, MN.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church on Saturday. Per MN Executive Order, masks will be required, and social distancing and occupancy limits are to be followed.
