Margaret Cecelia Slinger
Margaret Slinger, the daughter of Henry and Elizabeth (Bult) Slinger, was born on July 16, 1924 on the family farm in Murray County, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed in St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Woodstock, MN. She grew up on the farm and attended District 30 Country School. She remained on the farm helping her parents until they moved to Slayton in 1952. Margaret then worked at Ben Franklin until it closed. She then cleaned the government buildings in Slayton until her retirement at the age of 92. On March 13, 2018 she suffered a stroke and after being hospitalized, she went to Falls Landing Assisted Living and later to the Good Samaritan Society in Pipestone, MN. Margaret passed away on Monday, June 21, 2021 at the Pipestone Good Samaritan Society at the age of 96. She was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters of America. Margaret enjoyed decorating the church and the hall for their events.
Survivors include her sister, Betty Staab of Pipestone, MN; 2 sisters-in-law, Rose Slinger of Pipestone, MN and Judy Slinger of Casa Grande, AZ and a host of nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, 7 brothers, Edward, Walter, Louis, Joseph, Henry, William and Bernard Slinger and 4 sisters, Mary Arens, Martha Pfeiffer, Agnes Chapman and Helen Burkard.
Funeral Services
St. Ann’s Catholic Church Slayton, MN at 10:30 AM on Friday, June 25, 2021 with Fr. Thien Ngyuen celebrating. The organist is Judy Andrews. The song leader is Tom Andrews. The pallbearers are Wally Slinger, Don Slinger, Larry Slinger, Darin Staab, Doug Chapman and Gene Pfeiffer. Interment at St. Ann’s Cemetery Slayton, MN.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
