Marilyn Marie Gawreluk

Marilyn Gawreluk was born on January 13th, 1934, to Earl and Emma Legler Lilly in Varina, Iowa.   She moved to Fulda as a young child with the family settling in Slayton.  She was a 1952 graduate of Slayton High School and on May 12th, 1953, married Harry Gawreluk.   Marilyn was a devoted wife and mother raising 4 children.   She was very well read as she immersed herself in books of many subjects.  A very talented baker and cook who always welcomed family and friends with something tasty.  Marilyn had a passion for traveling and a love for the open road.  Retirement was gardening and sharing a cup of coffee with cherished friends and neighbors. She and Harry escaped winter as snowbirds traveling in their beloved No Bull RV.   Harry passed away on March 7, 1999.  Marilyn spent the past several years in the Twin Cities and was currently a resident of New Perspective Senior Living in Roseville.  Marilyn passed away at the Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park, MN at the age of 87.  She found great joy being with her family and most especially her ten grandchildren, four great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.  Preceded in death by parents, husband, Harry, brother, Luell (Bud), sisters-in-law, Pat and Bonita, and son-in-law, Art Andrew.  Survived by daughters, Ann (David), MaryJane, Beth, son, Michael (Susanne).  Grandchildren, Karen (Bernie), Dan (May), Nicholas (Kelly), Gabrielle, Meg, Alexandra, Heather (Charles), Samantha (Ryan), Nathan, Jason.  Great grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Danny, Adam, Aleric, and great-great grandchild Evie.  

Funeral Services

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, June 14th at St Ann’s Catholic Church in Slayton, MN at 11:00 am with Fr. Thien Nguyen officiating.  Interment will be at St. Ann’s Cemetery in Slayton, MN.  In lieu of flowers Memorials preferred in Marilyn’s name to: Minnesota Companion Rabbit Society.
