In Loving Memory of
Mary Ann Lacho Moritz
Mary Ann Moritz was born on April 30, 1944, in Minneapolis, Minnesota to George and Susan Kupcho Lacho. She grew up in Minneapolis and graduated from South High School in 1962 and then attended California Lutheran Bible School graduating in 1964. On April 2, 1966, she and Kenneth “Ken” Moritz were married in Minneapolis. Following their marriage, they made their home in Slayton, MN and raised their four daughters. Mary Ann worked for the Murray County Sheriff’s Office in Slayton as a dispatcher and jailer. She retired in 2003. In 2018 they moved to Sunrise Terrace in Slayton and in 2020 they moved to Appleton, MN to be near family. In 2021 they moved to Cottagewood Senior Communities in Mankato, MN. Ken passed away on October 29, 2023. Mary Ann passed away at Cottagewood Senior Communities on Sunday, May 18, 2025, at the age of 81. She was a member of Word of Faith church in Avoca, MN. Her faith was very important to her. Over the years she shared her love for Jesus by serving as choir director, teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, leading praise & worship and playing piano. Mary Ann enjoyed spending time with family, coffee with her friends, sewing, reading, fishing up north with family, playing piano and accordion and doing word searches puzzles.
Survivors include her four daughters and their spouses, Cindy and Chad Syltie of Appleton, MN, Becky and Dan Satrom of Fargo, ND, Marcia and Tom Morse of Spencer, IA, and Michelle and Jeff Kruger of Janesville, MN. She was blessed with 11 grandchildren, Ross and Mitchell Syltie; Enoch, Clarissa and Elijah Satrom; Wesley (Nicole) Morse, Elizabeth and Andy Morse; Alysha (Simon) Kruger, Myles and Elayna Kruger and one great-granddaughter, Cassie Morse and baby Morse on the way. Two sisters, Gloria Moritz of Ankeny, IA, and Victoria and Dennis Jessen of Aurora, CO, two brothers-in-law, Bob and Carol Moritz of Grinnell, IA, and Jim Moritz of Mankato, MN, and several nieces and nephews and their families. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ken, father, George Lacho, mother, Susan and Orville Hintz, father and mother in-law, Hans and Edna Moritz and three brothers-in-law, Dale and Ron and Len Moritz.
Funeral Services
Totzke Funeral Home in Slayton, MN on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. with Heidi Winter officiating and special music by Cheri Paulsen. The pallbearers are her grandchildren. Interment is at Slayton Memorial Gardens in Slayton, MN.
