Maurice Odenbrett Obituary

In Loving Memory Of

Maurice Odenbrett

Maurice Odenbrett, the son of Bernard and Elizabeth (Einck) Odenbrett, was born on April 1, 1945 in Fulda, MN. He grew up in Fulda and attended St. Gabriel’s Catholic School and graduated from the Fulda High School in 1963. Maurice was united in marriage to Caroline Nepper in April of 1968 at Our Lady of Good Council Catholic Church in Wilmont, MN. After their marriage they lived on the family farm northeast of Fulda where they raised their 2 children. Maurice was a farmer by trade and continued farming until his retirement in 2004. In 2022 they moved to Brookings, SD to be near their daughter. Maurice passed away on Monday, February 5, 2024 at the Brookings Hospital at the age of 78. He was a member of St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Fulda, where he had served as a trustee for 11 years, the finance committee, chairman of the cemetery board and singing in the choir. He also served as a Belfast Township Supervisor and South Dakota Soybean Processor Board member. He loved trains and had a full room with a set he built from the ground up. You could find multiple trains running at a time. His obsession were the engines and would travel anywhere to see one in person. One of his many talents was woodworking, he made many bedroom sets, candelabras and multiple other things. Maurice was able to travel to two areas that were on his bucket list, Rome, Italy and Alaska. His greatest joys were his kids, grandkids and great-grandkids.

Survivors include his wife, Caroline Odenbrett of Brookings, SD; children, Andrea (Steve) Hogie of Brookings, SD and Luke (Rochelle) Odenbrett of Brandon, SD; grandchildren, Anastasia (Brad) Pabst of Eugene, OR, Chantel (Austin) Hoerner of Rapid City, SD, Brittney Hogie (Noah Drew) of Brookings, SD, Noah (Ellie) Odenbrett of Brookings, SD, Sadie Odenbrett (Calvin Lipetzky) of Egan, MN and Olivia Odenbrett of Brandon, SD; great-grandchildren, Jaxon and Landon Pabst and Oliver Hoerner. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, David (Alfredia) Odenbrett and Thomas (Colleen) Odenbrett and sister, Mary (Danny) Klosterman.
