In Loving Memory Of
Maxine Pollak
Maxine Ann Pollak, 95, passed away peacefully, September 18, 2024, with family members at her side. She was born on January 21st, 1929, in Worthington, MN, to Henry and Margaret (Odenbrett) Pollak. Maxine grew up on a farm east of Avoca, MN. There, she attended School in Avoca through 7th grade and then completed 8th grade in Fulda. Due to health issues she had to quit school after 8th grade. Maxine enjoyed working and had a diverse career. She first started working at Fulda Dry Cleaners, and then went on to work for the Telephone Companies in both Fulda and Windom as an Operator. During that time, she placed calls to the US Capital when John F. Kennedy was assassinated. She also worked at F.W. Woolworth’s and then Dr Erickson’s Dental Office, both in Worthington. She worked as an aid at New Dawn in Fulda, and her final place of employment was secretary to the administrator at Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Fulda. She then retired to take care of her aging parents. Maxine had a strong faith and loved the Lord. She belonged to the FCCW, Bible Study, Ladies Aid, and was a Sacristan for several years - taking communion to those in town and the rural areas that could not get to Mass. Maxine loved to travel. Notable places she traveled to include California, the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone National Park, Washington D.C., Niagara Falls, Florida, Mackinac Island, and the Black Hills. She vacationed in Hawaii with her niece, Laurel. She flew to Germany with her sister, Betty, brother-in-law, Junior, and nieces, Laurel, and Lisa, to watch her nephew, Cory, play football. She went on two cruises; one to Alaska with a group of family and friends; and a Caribbean Cruise with 23 Czepa family members. She had been on multiple fishing and camping trips with her parents, and a saw the Passion Play at Eureka Springs, Arkansas.
In her pastime she loved tending to her garden and flowers. She would never pass up going to a rummage sale with her good friend, Babe. Maxine loved playing with her cat, Mitsy. The thing that meant the most to Maxine was spending time with her sister, Betty, her husband, Junior, and their family. She thought of her nephews and nieces as her own children and took immense pride and joy in all their lives.
Maxine is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Margaret Pollak, and her sister, Betty Czepa.
She is survived by her brother-in-law Emil Czepa Jr., and Nephews & Nieces: Doug (Julie) Czepa; Laurel (Mike) Pap; Lisa (Tom) Diekmann; Bob (Martha) Czepa; Jeff (Jodi) Czepa; Jerry (Debbie) Czepa and Cory (Sarah) Czepa. (17) great; (24) great-great; and (1) great-great-great nephews and nieces.
