In Loving Memory of
Michael Ralph Currier
Mike Currier was born on September 5, 1950, in Kingston, Tennessee to Fred and Margaret Sarten Currier. He grew up in Kingston until age 10 when he moved to Morris, IL to live with relatives. On January 3, 1970, he and Bonnie Truty were married at his mothers’ home in Lenoir City, TN. Following their marriage, they made their home in Morris for a short time before moving to Chicago, Il. In the early 1980’s they moved to Southwest Minnesota eventually settling in Avoca, MN. Mike worked at Pipestone Systems in Pipestone, MN. In April 2021 Mike became a resident of the Good Samaritan Society in Pipestone. He passed away there on Saturday, May 15, 2021, at the age of 70. Mike enjoyed fishing, gardening, landscaping, playing cards and putting jigsaw puzzles together.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Currier of Avoca, MN, four children, Mike and Dellcene Truty of Slayton, MN, John Currier of Pipestone, MN, Tanya Price and significant other, Mike Bowman of Currie, MN, and Bobby Currier and his wife, Jennifer of Pipestone, MN, 14 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and four siblings and their spouses, Fred and Diane Currier of Rockwood, TN, Beaulah Bailey of Morrie, Il, Larry and Christine Currier of Lenoir City, TN, and Bill and Ellen Griffin of Norphlet, AR, and one brother-in-law, Jerry Lunsford of Rockwood, TN. He is preceded in death by his parents, four siblings and their spouses, Wayne and Marie Currier, Edward Currier, Vonell and Marge Currier, Barbara and John Miller, Wilma Lunsford, one brother-in-law, Lee Truty and best friends, Larry Dilworth and Robert Vanmeveren.
A graveside service will be on Thursday, May 20, 2021, at Faith Lutheran Cemetery in Avoca, MN at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Robert Ossefoort officiating. The pallbearers are Hykin Bruns, Ian Masters, Elizabeth Currier, Devin Currier, Brandon Truty, Alisha Truty, Mike Bowman, and Bobby Currier.
Visitation will be from 12:00 to 12:45 at the Totzke Funeral Home in Slayton.
Due to the current Covid-19 restrictions, GUESTS WILL BE REQUIRED TO WEAR A MASK and practice social distancing guidelines.
