Randal Allan Weibel
Randy Weibel was born on October 6, 1952, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to Elmer and LaMae (Vestergard) Weibel. The family made their home in South Dakota, Iowa and later settled in Lake Wilson, MN. Randy graduated from Lake Wilson High School in 1971 and went on to attend Jackson Vo-Tech for communications graduating in 1972. Randy served with the Minnesota Army Reserves. Randy worked for Frontier Communication as a Central Office Technician. On a trip to Santorini, Greece he proposed to the love of his life Barb Holinka Staples and the two were married on May 2, 2020, in Lakeville, MN. Randy retired in 2021 after 48 years for Frontier Communication. Randy passed away on Friday, September 15, 2023, at Ava’s House in Sioux Falls, SD after a short battle with Cancer at the age of 70. He was a member of the Iron Horse Motorcycle Club of Fulda, MN. Randy Enjoyed spending time with his family, riding his Harley motorcycle, traveling and his trips to Sturges. Randy had a generous heart and was always willing to help anyone.
Survivors include his wife, Barb Weibel of Slayton, MN, two children, Jaime Helgeson and her boyfriend (Jamie Johnson) of Elko New Market, MN, Christopher (Charity) Weibel of Lakeville, MN, two step-sons, Heath (Angie) Landsman of Slayton, MN, and Kory (Ashlie) Staples of Fountain, CO, one step son-in-law, Shawn Nims of Big Lake, MN, 10 grandchildren, Makenzie, Madilynn, and Camden Helgeson, Emma and CJ Weibel, Haven and Eli Williams, Devin and Kaden Landsman, and Daniel Nelson, five sisters, Marcia (Brian) Rice of Maple Grove, MN, Karen (Tony) Rich of Duluth MN, Linda (Merle) Karjala of Cottonwood, MN, Teresa (Ed) Gilbertson of Slayton, MN, and Laurel (Dale) Zoet of Sheldon, IA, mother-in-law, Betty Schwarzenbach of Worthington, MN, two brothers-in-law, Thomas Holinka of Worthington, MN, and David (Gail) Holinka of Worthington, MN, one sister-in-law, Diane Sanow of Fulda, MN, and several nieces and nephews and their families. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Sandra Weibel, stepdaughter, Kelsey Staples Nims, two nephews, Eric Rice, and Mitchell Zoet and one niece, Leah Rich.
A Celebration of Life will be held at St. Ann’s Hall in Slayton from 1-4 on Saturday 23, 2023. Interment will be at a later date at Hills of Rest Cemetery in Sioux Falls, SD with military honors.
