Raymond Philip Priebe

Raymond Priebe was born on August 28, 1936, in Slayton, Minnesota to Erick and Esther Lundblad Priebe.  He grew up on the family farm north of Slayton and graduated from Slayton High School in 1954.  On June 3, 1956, he and LaVonne Hendrickson were married at the Slayton Lutheran Church in Slayton.  Following their marriage, they made their home in Tacoma, WA while Ray served in the United States Army.  Following his honorable discharge in March 1958 they returned to the family farm north of Slayton where they farmed and raised their three daughters. He and LaVonne enjoyed spending a week each summer with their family at various Minnesota the cabin’s fishing, playing cards and just enjoying time with family.   Ray and LaVonne celebrated their farm becoming a Century Farm in 2015, something they were very proud of.  In 2021 they moved to Sunrise Terrace in Slayton. In 2022 Ray moved to Westbrook Good Samaritan Society in Westbrook, MN.  LaVonne passed away on April 23, 2024.  Due to failing health Ray moved to Our House Hospice Home in Slayton in November 2024.  He passed away there on Friday, February 28, 2025, at the age of 88.  He was a member Trinity Lutheran Church in Slayton where he served on many of the church boards throughout the years.  He served on the Mason Farm Bureau Board, Advisory Board for Farm Credit Services, Murray County Co-op Oil and was supervisor for Mason Township for 27 years.  He also was a member of the Mason 4-H Club.  Ray enjoyed spending time with his family, farming, and giving international tractor rides to his grandkids.

Survivors include two daughters, Deb Priebe of Norwood Young America, MN and Denise (Chad) Boock of Becker, MN, three grandchildren, Amanda (Matt) Mracek, Tyler (Bri) Boock, and Dylan Boock (Emily Wines), eight great-grandchildren, Evit, Elaina, Grant, Ethan, Elise, Derek, Reed and Melanie and one sister-in-law, Cheryl Krant of Hadley, MN. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, LaVonne, daughter, Doreen Priebe, 2 sisters, Josephine (Bud) Morin and Gordenna (Delbert) Ball in-laws, Carol (Gene) Grayson, Larry (Carolyn) Hendrickson and one brother-in-law, Tony Krant.

Funeral Services

Christ Lutheran Church in Slayton, MN on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Lori Von Holtum officiating.  The organist is Nancy Lee Pierson.  The pallbearers are Craig Dahlhoff, Garrett Dahlhoff, Chris Dahlhoff, Lane Kohls, Dave Schwartz, and Harvey Larson.  Interment is at Slayton Memorial Gardens in Slayton, MN.  Military honors accorded by the Slayton American Legion Post.
