In Loving Memory of
Robert “Bob” Duane Rachuy
Bob Rachuy was born on September 1, 1950, in Worthington, Minnesota to Elgie and Delores O’Neil Rachuy. He grew up on the family farm south of Slayton, MN. Bob worked on the farm with his brothers, James, Chuck, and Larry. He graduated from Slayton High School and attended North Dakota State University where he participated in college football. Bob served in the United States Army, from May 27, 1971, to March 10, 1972. He was deployed overseas during the Vietnam War, and he received an honorable discharge. For several years, he worked in bridge construction and assisted his brother, Chuck, with the farming operation. Bob later received a degree in Horticulture. He had a passion for gardening and shared his garden produce with many people throughout Murray County. Bob also sold his produce for many years at various farmers markets and on highway 59 in Avoca. Bob made his home in Avoca, MN until moving to Slayton. Bob was admitted to the Minnesota Veterans Home in Luverne, MN on November 30, 2023, where he was cared for until September 25, 2025, when he moved to Our House Hospice Home in Slayton. Bob passed away there on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at the age of 75 years. Bob enjoyed visiting with people, and gardening.
He is survived by his extended family and is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Frederick and Christina Krahling, maternal grandparents, Patrick and Elsie O'Neil, parents, Elgie and Delores Rachuy, infant brother, Ricky Rachuy, and three brothers, James Rachuy, Chuck Rachuy and Larry Rachuy.
A graveside service will be on Monday, October 13, 2025, at Faith Lutheran Cemetery in Avoca, MN at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Chad Duffy officiating. The pallbearers will be his fellow Avoca American Legion members. Military honors accorded by the Avoca American Legion Post. Totzke Funeral Home of Slayton is entrusted with arrangements.
