In Loving Memory of
Robert “Tex” John Sellman
Tex Sellman was born on April 14, 1934, on the family farm in Des Moines River Township, Murray County, Minnesota to John and Olga Hanson Sellman. He grew up on the family farm and attended country school. He and Twilla Buchan were married on December 21, 1956. Tex enlisted in the United States Army on December 28, 1956. Following his honorable discharge on December 13, 1958, he returned to his wife, Twilla back in Slayton. Tex worked as a crane operator for Synder Construction building bridges until his retirement. Twilla passed away on June 28, 2021. Tex remained in their home until 2025 when he moved to Lindenwood Assisted Living in Slayton. Tex passed away at Our House Hospice Home in Slayton on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at the age of 91. He enjoyed have coffee with friends at Hegstad’s and watching TV.
Survivors include his two daughters, Shelly and Mark Lewis and Lori Sellman and special friend, Brian Berglund all of Slayton, MN 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, 5 siblings, Dorothy Wynia Byers of Slayton, MN, Milton Sellman of Montevideo, MN, Joyce and her husband, George Bloom of Slayton, MN, Marilyn and Dave Samuelson of Slayton, MN, and Kae Bonde of Slayton, MN and several nieces and nephews and their families. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Twilla, two brothers, LeRoy Sellman, and Rick Sellman, and three in-laws, Jerry Wynia, Diane Sellman, and Janice Sellman.
A graveside services will be held on Monday, November 17, 2025, at the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Chandler, MN, at 1:00 p.m. with military honors accorded by the Lake Wilson American Legion Post. A gathering will follow the graveside service at the Slayton Pizza Ranch. Totzke Funeral Home of Slayton is entrusted with arrangements. To send condolences visit totzkefuneralhome.com
