Rosemary Frances Oakland

Rosemary Oakland, the daughter of Joseph and Evelyn (Welu) Dolan, was born on January 26, 1959 in Marshall, MN. She grew up in Lucan, MN and attended Our Lady of Victory Catholic School in Lucan and graduated from the Milroy High School in 1977. Rose then attended Granite Falls AVTI and graduated in 1978. She moved to Marshall where she lived until her marriage. Rose was united in marriage to Steven Oakland on May 31, 1980 in Lucan. After their marriage they lived on a farm northeast of Fulda. She worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for the Fulda High School and later the Southwest Regional Development Commission. Rose passed away surrounded by her family on Thursday, March 3, 2022, at the Our House Hospice Home in Slayton, MN at the age of 63. She was a member of St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Fulda where she helped with the Harvest Festival and other church activities. Rose enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, taking pictures, baking, gardening, family gatherings, the Dolan Classic, attending family sporting events and watching her relatives baseball games.

Survivors include her husband, Steve Oakland of Fulda, MN; 4 children, Erin (Peter) Dauwalter of Waconia, MN, Abby Oakland of St. Louis Park, MN, Andrew Oakland of Fulda, MN and Michael Oakland of Fulda, MN; 3 grandchildren, Sophia, Evelyn and James Dauwalter; 12 siblings, Kenneth Dolan of Marshall, MN, Michael (Cela) Dolan of Edina, MN, Larry (Linda) Dolan of Sartell, MN, Dan (Linda) Dolan of Montevideo, MN, Tim Dolan of Appleton, MN, Jean (Donnie) Schmidt of Milroy, MN, Janette (Steve) LaVoy of Tracy, MN, Mary (Bob) Andersen of Eden Prairie, MN, Terry (Susan) Dolan of Edina, MN, Patty Dolan of Chanhassen, MN, Neil (Linda) Dolan of Lucan, MN and Bob (Peggy) Dolan of Milroy, MN; brothers and sisters-in-law, Drew (Jeanne Koopman) Oakland of Fulda, MN, Phyllis Johnson of Sioux Falls, SD, Craig (Peggy) Oakland of Hudson, WI, Janet (Bruce Fuerstenberg) Speckmier of Fulda, MN and Kari Smith of Slayton, MN; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, parents-in-law, Andrew and Iona Oakland, 3 sisters-in-law, Marie Dolan, Joy Dolan and Mary Oakland, 3 brothers-in-law, David Mann, John Johnson and Justin Smith and 3 nephews, Steven Schmidt, Dolan Andersen and Axel Lightfoot. 

Funeral Services

St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church Fulda, MN at 10:30 AM on Thursday, March 10, 2022, with Msgr. R. Paul Heiting celebrating.  The organist is Sherri Isder. The song leaders are Neil Dolan and Suzanne Lightfoot. The pallbearers are Tim Dolan, Terry Dolan, Bob Dolan, Scott LaVoy, Rick Haberman and Peter Dauwalter. Honorary pallbearers are Ken Dolan, Mike Dolan and Dan Dolan. Interment at St. Gabriel’s Cemetery Fulda, MN.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 3 to 5 PM at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Fulda and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. The Totzke Funeral Home in Fulda is assisting the family with arrangements.
