Ruth Josephine Kunzweiler

Ruth Josephine (Lind) Kunzweiler was born on February 25, 1923, to parents Saunders and Pearl (Etter) Lind.  She was the youngest of three children.  Her father passed away when she was four years old.  She grew up on the family farm near Cavour, SD.  Ruth attended rural school, and graduated from Huron High School.  She attended Huron College and College at Oskaloosa, Iowa.  At that time, she was qualified to teach in high school after three years of college.  She taught business subjects for two years at Quinby, IA.  She then moved west with a college friend from South Dakota to Eugene, OR, and was employed as a secretary.  After four years of employment, she had funds to complete college.  She returned to South Dakota and finished her four-year Degree at the University of South Dakota, Vermillion.  She taught typing and shorthand at Fulda High School during the years 1948 - 1951. Through friends, she met Vince Kunzweiler in Fulda, MN.  They were united in marriage on December 27, 1950, at St. Gabriel's Church.  They went to New York City for their honeymoon.  They delivered Meals-on-Wheels, and enjoyed square dancing, traveling, and bus tour groups.  Especially, their granddaughters' FFA and band trips.  Ruth remained home after marriage, caring for her children and granddaughters.  She had been a member of the Pink Ladies, extension clubs, bible study, and taught religious education. Ruth passed away on Thursday, November 11, 2021 at the Our House Hospice Home in Slayton, MN at the age of 98. 

She felt it was a gift from God for her long life. Grateful for sharing her life are her children, Lynne (James) Salentiny, Heron Lake, MN, David Kunzweiler, Bellevue, IA, Karen Richter, Fulda, MN, Donald Kunzweiler, Fulda, MN, and Philip Kunzweiler, Fulda, MN.  Caring grandchildren, Krista (Scott) Stude, Mankato, MN, Kay (Shannon) Risacher, Minnetonka, MN, Sarah (John) MacDonald, Rochester, MN, Lisa (Ollie) Jackson, Rosemount, MN.   Step-great-grandchildren, David (Kiana) Johnson and their children, Isaiel, Solomon and Novah Johnson, Lakeview, MN, J.T. Jackson, Burnsville, MN and London Jackson, Lakeville, MN. Special great grandchildren, Ethan Stude, Mankato, MN, and Kylie Stude, Mankato, MN, Zoe Risacher, Minnetonka, MN,  and Alexander Risacher, Minnetonka, MN, Sophia MacDonald, Rochester, MN, Savannah MacDonald Rochester, MN, and Cameron MacDonald, Rochester, MN, Sean Jackson, Rosemount, MN, Jaidon Jackson, Rosemount, MN,  and Ollie Isaac Jackson, Rosemount, MN, and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Vincent, on December 14, 1999, brother Joy (Bernice) Lind, sister Faye (Maynard) Sweet.  Brothers-in-law Joseph (Peggy) Kunzweiler, Richard Kunzweiler, and Paul (Alice) Kunzweiler.

A private family burial will be held on Monday, November 15, 2021 at St. Gabriel cemetery with Rev. Msgr. R. Paul Heiting.
