Sarah Jane Carlson

Sarah Carlson was born on May 2, 1982 in Willmar, Minnesota to John and Patrice Giese Knutson.  She grew up in Willmar and graduated from Willmar High School in 2000.  Sarah later attended Ridgewater College graduating in 2002.  On January 11, 2008 she and Oscar Carlson were married at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Currie, MN.  Following their marriage they continued to make their home on an acreage south of Lake Sarah.  Sarah worked at Key Largo on Lake Shetek and at Lakeside Hideaway in Currie.  Sarah devoted most of her time to being a great mother and wife. Sarah passed away unexpectedly at the Murray County Medical Center in Slayton on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at the age of 38.  She was a member of IHM Church in Currie.  Sarah enjoyed being a mom, cooking, reading, camping, and Lady Gaga.

Survivors include her husband, Oscar Carlson of Garvin, MN, four daughters, Ava, Alice, Violet and Scarlett all at home, her parents, John and Patrice Knutson of Willmar, MN, her parents-in-law, Kevin and Sue Carlson of Slayton, MN, paternal grandmother, Alice Knutson of Slayton, MN, maternal grandmother, Jane Giese both of Slayton, MN and many other relatives and friends.  She is preceded in death her paternal grandfather, Norman Knutson and maternal grandfather, John Giese.

A private family Mass of Christen Burial will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Currie on Saturday, September 19, 2020 with Msgr R. Paul Heiting officiating.  The organist is Patty LeClarie.  The pallbearers are Renee Larson, Kala Larson, Christa Krick, Jennifer Krumwiede, Becky Gillum and Jesse Schweiss. The family will gather at the Kevin Carlson Home from 12:30 to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2020 for family and friends. 

In lieu of flowers a memorial account has been set up at Minnwest Bank in Slayton for the family.
