Shirley Lewis
Shirley Ann Lewis, the daughter of Alvin and Irene (Lambert) Leinen, was born on January 4, 1941 in Worthington, MN. She grew up in Kinbrae before moving at the age of 4 to a farm south of Fulda. She attended country school then went to St. Gabriel’s Catholic School until the 8th grade and then graduated from the Fulda High School. Shirley was united in marriage to Edward Lewis on November 19, 1960 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Worthington. After their marriage they lived in Adrian before moving to a farm south of Fulda. She worked at Pal’s Café, the Fulda Rec, Brockway Dentist office, Rich’s Clover Farm, Southern MN Scales and the Cottonwood Drive Inn over the years. Shirley passed away on Monday, July 31, 2023 at Our House Hospice Home in Slayton, MN at the age of 82. She was a member of St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church where she served on the F.C.C.W., was an usher, greeter, Alter Society and the Grateful Grannies. Shirley enjoyed being with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, camping, playing cards and cooking and baking.
Survivors include her husband, Ed Lewis of Fulda, MN; 3 children, Terry (Laurie) Lewis of Fulda, MN, Karla (Peter) Hunsinger of Apple Valley, MN and Tim (Starla) Lewis of Le Sueur, MN; daughter-in-law, Diane Lewis of Amery, WI; 5 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; brother, Al (Phyllis) Leinen of Gray Eagle, MN and sister, Sandra Holst of Woodbury, MN. She is preceded in death by her parents, son, Troy Lewis and daughter-in-law, Claudia Lewis.
Funeral Services
St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church Fulda, MN at 10:30 AM on Saturday, August 5, 2023 with Fr. Peter Schuster celebrating. The organist is Dana Hogan. The song leader is Sheila Crowley. The honorary pallbearers are grandchildren. Interment at St. Gabriel’s Cemetery Fulda, MN.
Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 6 PM at the St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Fulda and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. The Totzke Funeral Home in Fulda is assisting the family with arrangements.
