Terry Lee York
Terry York was born on September 16, 1984 in Slayton, Minnesota to Lee and Joan Franz York. He was baptized and confirmed at the United Methodist Church in Lake Wilson, MN. Terry grew up on the family farm east of Lake Wilson and graduated in 2003 from Murray County Central High School in Slayton. He then attended Ridgewater College in Willmar graduating in 2006 with degrees in Farm Operation and Management, Ag Business, and GPS/GIS. Terry returned to the family farm and farmed with his father, Lee, brother, Brian and uncle, Jim. He also owned and operated T-Tech Sales and Support. Terry was known and loved for his witty humor and sarcasm. Terry passed away unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, November 26, 2020 at the age of 36. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Lake Wilson and served as auditor. He also was a member of the Lake Wilson Masonic Lodge 262, Lake Wilson Volunteer Fire Department, served as treasurer of the Lake Wilson Firemen’s Relief Association and was past president of the Lake Wilson Community Club. Terry enjoyed hunting, video games, 4-wheeling, drones, reading and history.
Survivors include his parents, Lee and Joan York of Lake Wilson, MN, two siblings Brian (Brandi) York of Lake Wilson, MN, and Kayla York and friend, Eric Schmid of Sioux Falls, SD, two nephews, Tyler and Aiden York, maternal grandmother, Edna Bragstad of Garretson, SD, and several aunts, uncles, cousins and their families. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Jay and Doris York and maternal grandfather, Joe Bragstad.
In an effort to keep everyone safe a private family service will held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Lake Wilson, MN on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 with Rev. Ethanie Schmidt officiating. The organist is Paul Mesner. The honorary pallbearers are Michael Berreau, Justin Berreau, Ben Grimmius, Andy Beek and Mike Van Heel. Interment is at Hillside Cemetery in Lake Wilson, MN.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the Church on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers memorial may be directed to the Lake Wilson Volunteer Fire Department.
Per MN Executive Order, masks will be required and social distancing and occupancy limits are to be followed
