Vernon Wenzel

Vernon L. Wenzel, the son of Arthur and Emma (Janssen) Wenzel, was born March 28, 1937 on the family farm near Fulda, MN. He grew up on the family farm and attended St. Paul’s Lutheran School and the Fulda High School, graduating in 1955. He entered the U.S. Army in January of 1956 and served until January of 1958. Vern was united in marriage to Leann Dalin on February 23, 1958 at the First Presbyterian Church in Fulda. After their marriage they lived in Fulda until 1963 when they moved to Tyler, MN. In 1965 they moved to Maynard, MN and then Janesville, MN in 1967. In 1968 they moved back to Fulda to farm southeast of Fulda. Vern remained at home after Leann’s death in January of 2018. Vern passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at the Sunset Hospice Cottage in Worthington, MN at the age of 87. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. He enjoyed farm life, travel, taking his four-wheeler out for a spin to pick asparagus, gardening, cooking and talking with family and friends.  His family was most important to him and he always loved the time that he could spend with all.

Survivors include his 3 children, Babette (Randy) Thorsen of Fergus Falls, MN, Jock (Lisa Jo) Wenzel of Albert Lea, MN and Berry (Stacy Reding) Wenzel of Tacoma, WA; 4 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 2 siblings, Mary Kuiper and Arden (Karen) Wenzel. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife and brother, Leland Wenzel.

Funeral Services

St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Fulda, MN at 10:30 AM on Saturday, February 8, 2025 with Rev. Shawn Ethridge officiating.  The pallbearers are Bruce Leinen, Dale Bestge, Greg Gunderman, Randy Hein, Mark Gehl and Brad Schweigert. Interment at Prairie Hill Cemetery Fulda, MN.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. The Totzke Funeral Home in Fulda is assisting the family with arrangements.
