Virginia “Ginny” Ann Krohn

Ginny Krohn, 79, of Slayton, was surrounded by loved ones when she peacefully went to be with the Lord on Monday, September 12, 2022, at Our House Hospice Home in Slayton.  Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 16, 2022, at First Presbyterian Church in Slayton with Rev. Aaron Punt officiating.  The pallbearers are Tom Christensen, Brian Krohn, Brent Krohn, Caden Krohn, Cameron Krohn, Jack Schwartz, Ken Schwartz, Bob Schwartz.  The honorary pallbearers are her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Interment is at Slayton Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Slayton.  Ginny was born on May 29, 1943, in Slayton, MN to Howard and Vivian Frick Schwartz.  She grew up in Slayton and married Fred Christensen on April 9, 1960.  Together, the couple had two children, Lisa Ann and Thomas Fred.  Fred passed away on June 14, 1967, as the result of a car accident.  Ginny was blessed to find love again with Terry Lee Krohn.  The couple wed on June 29, 1968, in Las Vegas, NV.  They also made their home in Slayton and to this union they had two sons, Brian Lee and Brent Michael.  Ginny spent her life as homemaker and was most proud to be a mother to her four children.  She dedicated her life to her children, grandchildren and taking care of her beautiful yard and flowers.  She loved shopping – particularly for flowers at VIP Floral where she was a recognizable face and at Chico’s where she was on the hunt for anything white.  Family and close friends will always remember Ginny for her white bandana in her hair and a piece of Doublemint gum in her mouth – and of course, with old Willie Nelson playing in the background.  She was guaranteed to make you laugh in any conversation and make you feel more than loved with her hugs.  Her children looked forward to every phone call she would make to them for the smallest daily or latest Slayton news.

Left to cherish her memories are her four children, Lisa Engen of Kearney, NE; Tom Christensen (Deb Perleberg) of Chicago, IL; Brian (Angie) Krohn of Lakeville, MN; and Brent (Maribel) Krohn of San Diego, CA; 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; brothers Jack (Phyllis) Schwartz of Burnsville, MN; Ken Schwartz of Ortonville, MN; and Bob (Mary) Schwartz of Sioux Falls, SD; as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; husbands Fred Christensen and Terry Krohn; son-in-law Steve Engen; sister-in-law Linda Schwartz; and nephew Daniel Schwartz.
