Wayne Rogers

Wayne Jacob Rogers, the son of Donald and Leola (Burmeister) Rogers, was born on March 23, 1961 in Worthington, MN. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brewster. Wayne grew up on the family farm north of Brewster, MN, where he resided most of his life. He attended Brewster Public School, graduating in 1979 and played basketball, and was named all-conference his senior year. After graduation he helped his parents on the farm with raising hogs, grain and hunting dogs. Wayne played baseball and softball most of his life. A passion he learned from his father and older siblings. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing, which he passed down to his nephews. The family tradition of fox and coyote hunting with dogs was another big part of Wayne’s life. Wayne would attend dog races to meet other hunters and buy and trade for the fastest dogs. He also enjoyed hunting deer, ducks and pheasants with his yellow lab, Abby. Wayne was an avid pool league member and enjoyed being with people and having a good time. Wayne enjoyed going to watch ball games, especially ones where his nieces and nephews were playing. Wayne passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at the Avera Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 62.

Survivors include his siblings, Kevin Rogers of Heron Lake, MN, Gail Rogers of Heron Lake, MN, Mavis (Larry) Johnson of Staples, MN, Lorna (Randy) Kruger of Worthington, MN, Glenn (Lisa) Rogers of Brewster, MN and Lori (Randy) McCabe of Albertville, MN; nieces and nephews, Heidi, Andrew, Isaiah, Ida, Eliza, Ethan, Stacy, Crystal, Kyle, Tyler, Keith, Garet, John, Jacob, Courtney and Christina. He is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral Services

Trinity Lutheran Church Brewster, MN at 10:30 AM on Friday, May 26, 2023 with Rev. David McDonald officiating.  The organist is Linda Lang. The pallbearers are his nephews. Interment at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery Brewster, MN.

Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 7 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brewster and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. The Totzke Funeral Home in Fulda is assisting the family with arrangements.
