Dennis Dean Wilde

Dennis Wilde, the son of Ronald and Mildred (Riewe) Wilde, was born on November 18, 1944 in Mankato, MN. He grew up on a farm near Truman, MN and attended Willow Creek Lutheran School and Truman High School graduating in 1962. He then attended Mankato State University and graduated with a teaching degree. Dennis was united in marriage to Cheryl Kilmer on September 3, 1966 in Madelia, MN. After their marriage they lived in Wabasso, MN where Dennis taught at St. Ann’s Catholic School for one year. They then moved to Fulda, MN where he taught at the Fulda High School until his retirement in 2000. Dennis decided that he needed to teach a little longer and taught for one year at St. Paul’s Lutheran School full time and substituted for many years after. Dennis passed away on Sunday, April 17, 2016 at the Avera Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 71. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where he taught Sunday school for many years. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and playing cards, especially Pinochle. Dennis loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Cheryl Wilde of Fulda, MN; three children, Shawn (Elyse) Wilde of Williamsburg, IA, Jennifer (Shane Wendland) Scott of Mankato, MN and Colin (Mary Wussow) of Garfield, MN; six grandchildren, Ian and Aubree Wilde, Madelyn Scott, Hennessey Wendland, Steff and Heidi Wussow; brother, James (Mary) Wilde of Amboy, MN and step-mother, Gladys Wilde of Lewisville, MN. He is preceded in death by his parents and niece, Jody Volk.

Funeral Services

St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Fulda, MN at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 with Rev. Shawn Ethridge officiating.  The organist is Loretta Gehl. The soloist is Deb Bestge. The pallbearers are Chad Wilde, Shawn Wilde, Colin Wilde, Shane Wendland, Brian Ackerman and Matt Meier. Honorary pallbearers are Don Funk and Ron Renneke. Interment at Prairie Hill Cemetery Fulda, MN.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 PM at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fulda and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. The Totzke Funeral Home in Fulda is assisting the family with arrangements.
