Della Betty Dierks

Della Dierks, the daughter of Emil and Anna (Busch) Carlson, was born on May 20, 1920 in Heron Lake, MN. She moved at a young age to Kinbrae, MN where she grew up and attended school. Della was united in marriage to Harold Dierks on September 14, 1937 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fulda, MN. After their marriage they moved to a farm near Kinbrae. Della remained at their farm after Harold passed away in October of 1992. She moved in to Fulda in 1994. Della entered the Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Fulda in December of 2014 and passed away there on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at the age of 96. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where she was an active member over the years. She was also a past member of the county extension group. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, square dancing, crocheting, embroidery, leather working, photography and spending time with her family. Over the years Della made cakes for many, many, people for all types of occasions.

Survivors include her children, Betty (Rev. Paul) Dorn of Houston, TX, Norma (Garner) Paulson of Windom, MN, Darlene Kretzschmar of Ankeny, IA and Steve (Rebecca) Dierks of Sioux Falls, SD; 10 grandchildren, Rev. Michael (Veloyce) Dorn, Rebekah Dorn, Garen (Kim) Paulson, Todd (Lisa) Paulson, Jennifer (Chad) Gage, Rhonda (Brad) Hiatt, Tim (Michon) Kretzschmar, Steven (Denise) Dierks, Stacy (Amy) Dierks and Scott (Nicolle) Dierks; 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Irene Hultquist of Windom, MN; brother, Bill (Marilyn) Carlson of Tracy, MN and sister-in-law, Elnora Dierks of Fulda, MN. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son-in-law, Tom Kretzschmar, grandson, John Dorn and 3 brothers, Ernest, Raymond and Herb Carlson.

Funeral Services

St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Fulda, MN at 2:00 PM on Sunday, November 13, 2016 with Rev. Shawn Ethridge officiating.  The organist is Loretta Gehl. The soloists are A.W. Koopman and Kay Gunderman. Special music provided by Andrew Paulson. The pallbearers are her grandchildren. Interment at Prairie Hill Cemetery Fulda, MN.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Sunday. The Totzke Funeral Home in Fulda is assisting the family with arrangements.
