To the Platt family,
I am so very sorry to hear of Chuck Sr.'s passing. I know my parents thought the world of him and his family. I am so sorry that I was unable to be at the funeral to represent my parents, Jim and Jeanne Schrantz. The thought that Chuck had a personal relationship with the Lord must give comfort to Mary and his family. May God bring comfort and peace.

Mary and Family,
My condolences and heartfelt prayers to all of you on the death of your husband and father of your children. He was a good guy in every sense of the word. And working so closely with Chuck Jr, while at St. Ann's I know the apple did not fall far from the tree. Chuck and Mary were always grateful for any kindness shown. They were proud parents and Grandparents.. The children took good care of their parents and Chuck in his declining years. After the incident at the lake he was given a beautiful borrowed time from God Almighty. I got to spend some quality time with him and Mary during this borrowed time. They were most complimentary of happenings going on, especially in the churches they called home, and understood well how I looked to Churk Jr. to help me beautify and enhance the buildings and grounds at St Anne. I know that was our conversation often when I would make Communion calls. Burden with the demands of old age they found strength knowing their children were there for them, Imagine Chuck Sr. going to his death knowing Mary, his beloved would be cared for. Scripture was alive in their hearts. What a beautiful feeling to die with. It was time for dad to go. He questioned often why he was still here and I told him each day is a gift. He understood that, but the battle was tough some days. Goes to show, with all the near death experiences he put the family through, that "Good Guys" are to let go. Often we want them to go to a better life, we just have a hard time opening our hands and freeing them. Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him. Amen
