In Loving Memory of

John Richard Norton Jr.

John Norton Jr. was born on January 21, 1968 in Sarasota, Florida to John Sr. and Eleanor Setterberg Norton.  In July 1968 the family moved to Walnut Creek, CA until 1981 when they returned to Sarasota.  John graduated from Riverview High School in 1986.  Following high school John attended Manatee Junior College and later the University of South Florida.  On August 1, 2005 John and Rachel Douglas were married in Miami, FL.  Following their marriage they made their home in Sarasota and John worked in the restaurant business.  In 2006 they moved to Bucyrus, KS and John continued working in the restaurant business.  He was currently employed at LaBodega Restaurant in Leawood, KS.  John’s true passion was cooking.  John passed away unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at the age of 48.  John enjoyed fishing, shooting sports, surfing, swimming, bike riding, kayaking, cars and music.  He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.  John will be remembered for his love of family, his caring spirit, his big heart and for asking a 1,000 questions.    

Survivors include his wife, Rachel Norton and son, Zac Norton both of Bucyrus, KS, his mother, Eleanor Norton of Slayton, MN, and a host of other family and friends.  He is preceded in death by his father, John Norton Sr., grandparents, Conrad and Kristina Setterberg and James and Audrey Norton, and aunt, Virginia Hartz. 

Funeral Services

Lake Sarah Baptist Church in rural Slayton, MN on Friday, June 3, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. John Lassen officiating.  Interment is at Lake Sarah Baptist Church in rural Slayton, MN. 

Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church on Friday.
