In Loving Memory Of

Joseph “Joey” Peter Hollander

Joey Hollander was born on November 17, 1976 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to Dennis and Dannette Finley Hollander.  He grew up in Sioux Falls until 1993 when Dannette, Joey and Amanda moved to Iona, MN.  Joey attended Murray County Central High School. He later attended SMSU in Marshall graduating in 2007 with a Bachelors Degree in finance.  In August 2007 he and Celeste Weber were married in Colorado.  Following their marriage they made their home in Fargo, ND.  They later divorced and Joey made his home in Sioux Falls. Joey studied at the American Institute of Nondestructive Testing. His work took him to the Alaska for several weeks at a time and then he would return to Sioux Falls for several weeks.  Joey was currently working for Mistras Group Inc. in Prudhoe Bay, AK.  Joey passed away on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 in Sundance, WY at the age of 39.  Joey loved spending time with his family and being around his nieces and nephews.  He enjoyed fishing, camping, reading, and his cat, Gibbs and dog, Alex.

Survivors include his daughter, Kristin Donahue of Chico, CA; his mother and step-father, Dannette and Jeff Mahon of Iona, MN and father, Dennis Hollander of Colton, SD; seven siblings, their spouses and families, Amanda and Cory Maeyaert of Tracy, MN, Amy and Travis Dammann of Luverne, MN, Becky and Nate Crane of Hartford, SD, Jessica and Michael Koger of Madisonville, LA, Dustin and Rebbeca Mahon of Centerville, TN, Coby Mahon and Wendy Ward of Walnut Grove, MN, and Tabitha and Cole Bartz of Sioux Falls, SD and several aunts and uncles and their families.  He is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Rosella Finley, parental grandparents, Amanda and Joseph Hollander, step-grandparents, Bill and Mary Mahon and uncle, Mike Finley. 

Memorial Services

Christ Lutheran Church in Slayton, MN on Monday, June 6, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Ted Kunze officiating.  The organist is LaDean Lang.  Interment is at Slayton Memorial Gardens in Slayton, MN. 

Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church on Monday.
