In Loving Memory Of

 

Norma Gladys Miller

 

Norma Miller, the daughter of Max and Ethel (Barrett) Samp, was born on February 16, 1922 in Spencer, SD. As a young child the family moved to a farm near Dundee, MN. She grew up on the farm and attended Country School Dist. 32. Norma was united in marriage to Kenneth Miller on November 22, 1938 at the parsonage in Fulda. After their marriage they lived and farmed east of Avoca, MN. Norma opened the Cottonwood Drive In in Fulda 1957 and worked there until her retirement in 1996. They then moved to Tucson, AZ to be near her daughter. While living in Tucson she was the shuffleboard director and certified Bingo caller for her neighborhood. Norma also helped make Brail Bibles while there also. In June of 2011 they retuned to Fulda and made their home at the Maple View Estates. She remained at their apartment after Ken passed away in April of 2012. Norma passed away on Sunday, August 27, 2017 at her home under hospice care at the age of 95. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fulda where she had served with the Ladies Aid and was the head cook for many weddings. She enjoyed bowling in her younger years, playing cards, bible study, fishing and traveling.

 

Survivors include her two children, Judy (Stan) Kirlin of Fulda, MN and Glen (Sally) Miller of Oroville, CA; 8 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Maxine Skouge of Slayton, MN; brother, Ned (Dottie) Samp of Redding, CA and sister-in-law, Beverly Samp of Shingle Springs, CA. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter and son-in-law, June and Vincent Kellen, 2 grandsons, Clyde Gerber and Terry Kellen, great-grandson, Peter Gronewold, 2 brothers, Gordon and Robert Samp, 4 sisters, Edna Johnson, Evelyn Feltman, Marjorie Sands and Hazel Johnson and an infant brother and sister.

 

Funeral Services

 

St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Fulda, MN at 1:30 PM on Friday, September 1, 2017 with Rev. Shawn Ethridge officiating.  The organist is Loretta Gehl. The soloist is A.W. Koopman. Interment at Prairie Hill Cemetery Fulda, MN.

 

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. The Totzke Funeral Home in Fulda is assisting the family with arrangements.
